CitySearch's Shady Sales Practices

While it is a bit surprising, its something to watch
out for...

A client of mine was contacted by a CitySearch local
sales rep. I spoke with the man on behalf of my
client. The sales rep said he would drop off info and
follow up on sending my client CPC traffic. I said
great. He dropped off info. Never followed up. Hence
he never got an affirmative "yes" from us. A month or
so later, my client gets a bill from CitySearch out of
LA. The bill was for CPC traffic delivered. My client
was confused, just as much as me, since neither of us
approved any deal. Adding to the confusion, there was
no phone number for CitySearch's billing office on the
invoice. After digging one up, my client contacted
CitySearch. After explaining what happened, the
CitySearch billing person happily said they would
cancel the invoice - as if this was a common
occurrence. Can't help to think how many other small
businesses out there are victims of this practice.
Worse yet, how many of these unsuspecting clients
actually pay the bill without question! Big business
taking advantage of the small guys just to make a
quick buck! Sad.
