Re: Missing the real issue

What if instead of relying on search engines to deliver people to your Web
site, you took your Web site -- all of its content and functionality -- to
the people? And simultaneously you assimilate information about their
preferences and behaviors?
This may be a bit self-serving because we have just such an application --
X:Stream Action. I'll try to make this as low key as possible just to let
you know what we believe the future holds.
X:Stream Action is a data-driven user interface. It can be used for any
initiative that relies on content communication and distribution, including
advertising. It's based on simple HTML (no invasive Java or fat files).
People don_t need to install a 30-plus Megabyte program or plug-in to view
multimedia content. They can interact with any type of content served to
them, regardless of operating system and browser. Two lines of code trigger
all this functionality from a hypertext link or from a graphic image.
Because it blends content, media and functionality in one tool, it is
simpler, cheaper and faster than other advertising and content distribution
products and allows you to substantially expand your outreach. You have more
control over your content, to the extent that you can even deliver your
content over innumerable Web sites directly from your desktop. Other
interesting capabilities in a single tool:
1. Unlimited flexibility and versatility -- accommodates any volume of
content and delivers the content to viewers on demand, regardless of whether
they use a PC or Mac, and regardless of the technology or program that was
used to create the content (e.g., word processor, Flash, 3D, C#, etc.).
2. Accommodates any function, including collaboration and convergence
systems, e-commerce, games, downloads, etc., as well as any type and format
of content: text, animation, audio, video, or web-casts, live or
pre-recorded. (A couple of years ago we used X:Stream Action to pipe a live
event from Madison Square Garden to our client's site.)
2. Real time, two-way distribution and tracking of all of this content and
functionality wherever you negotiate or purchase space; on affiliate
networks; over intranets, extranets; on Web-enabled devices, like kiosks,
WebTV, mobile equipment. Even on search engines.
3. The actual content files never leave your database or servers. This
means you don_t have to traffic content files (like advertisements,
catalogs, games) to third party site owners or ad publishers. You eliminate
the customary one to two week delay waiting for publishers to test and
upload the files. Even better, content and ad publishers don_t have to store
their customers_ content files in their servers -- huge savings.
4. Never removes viewers from the host site. Never opens a new browser
window or pop-up. All content is fed or streamed to viewers through the
X:Stream interface, which can be of any dimension, visible or invisible.
5. Changes to any element of your content are translated instantly wherever
the application is located, even on hundreds of sites. This allows you to
create short-term promotions or sales; make crisis management more efficient
and timely; issue security alerts; distribute news the instant it happens;
and so on.
6. Integrated tracking and measurement allows you to monitor your audiences
_ behaviors and interaction with your content ads wherever they are
displayed, and to measure the performance and results of your business
initiatives or campaigns. The information allows you to instantly optimize
the content wherever it appears.
7. Facilitates product placements; exclusive sponsorships; promotions and
advertisements within the application (i.e., ads within your ad; other
peoples_ content within your content).
