Re: Conversion rates for ecommerce
Hi,
In my experience working with over 100 sites, I have found the following
with conversation rates. I have several types of sites. One is an art site
where it try to sell artworks with average price tag of $2000 US. It takes a
lot of visitors to get one sale (I think around 7500 visitors per sale).
Fortunately the site gets 1000-3000 visitors per day. My other business
involves real estate with much higher price tags. My basically market agents
services and get visitors to either submit buying or selling requests. I
find it takes 100 visitors to get one lead and depending on the agent 20-100
leads to get one sale. So it works out to 2000-10,000 visitors required per
sale. My real estate network gets about 500,000 visitors per month. In both
of these businesses it seems volume is the issue. I get the volume I need by
marketing on the search engines. I can't afford to pay for ranking because I
figure my visitors are only worth 1-2 cents and bid minimums are 10 cents. I
think many people don't really understand the math and end up bidding as
much as $2-5 per visitor and it makes me wonder how they could possibly stay
in business.
Best Wishes,
Allan
