if you mean Jim Sterne, i'll agree I just bought a replacement
copy of Web Metrics since I left my last copy on the airplane :(

kinda off-topic: but maybe partial page caching would work for
you. Not sure what your setup is but I really like Turck MMcache
for PHP http://turck-mmcache.sourceforge.net/ You can cache query
results, partial "dynamic" page pieces or whatever you like.
(http://www.php-accelerator.co.uk/ might also be of interest)

Client-side tagging (SSDC) is kinda interesting, but not really a
unique idea and has its own drawbacks. Neither server log file
analysis nor client-side tagging is completely accurate. Anyone
have any data which is *more* accurate? Seems like a pretty basic
system, has anyone built their own tracking system?
