Accepting credit cards

Now that the editorial side of my internet-only publishing company has matured,
my thoughts return full-time to the advertising side of the business equation.
Specifically the need to accept credit card payments from advertisers.

If Canadian banks did not first ask for my left arm and right foot as security
back in 1999 when I launched my venture, I would have accepted plastic from day
one.

I did set up an account with PayPal early on in 2000, but never pushed it after
learning from one doner that the $20 he thought he was donating to me via PayPal
was naturally in Canadian currency. When he received his statement the next month
the donation was in US dollars and considerably more than $20. Fortunately, he
was okay with it.

Anyway, PayPal now accepts Canadian currency transactions and I'm ready to
embrace credit card transactions.

My question: Is PayPal still the best option for accepting payments online?

Any good words on or off list greatly appreciated.
