E-commerce Web Designer with Copywriter, Anyone?

Hi,

After lurking a long while, I appear to essentially repeat a request of months
ago.

Our website is badly underachieving, in large part because of how it looks.
We've attempted some upgrades within the past year, but nothing yet usable has
come of it.

This time, we do know enough to be seeking a website designer who works with a
copywriter (for a small part of the job) and has designed for successful
(maybe small) e-commerce sites.

Some of you might own such sites and thus could personally recommend good
designers.

Some of you might know of some IT professional 'banks' from which one can find
such assistance.

Two big problems:
We need some of the work very soon, and our budget is only several thousand
dollars. If this renders the request unfilfillable, please say so.
