Hey gang,
It is a typically slow August for the list, and I wanted to
toss a topic into the ring that would hopefully pick up the
discussion again.
We launched a new web site for ADASTRO (the company that
runs this list) last week. I thought it might be useful to
tap into the collective brain trust on this list for
critique... rip it to shreds and/or let us know what you
like about it. Hopefully the resulting discussion will be
valuable to many others on the list besides us.
In order to review the site, of course, you'll need to know the
objectives that the site is (and is not) trying to accomplish,
so I'll outline them below:
The site is intended to support providing basic information
about the organization to parties that don't really know
us... someone hears the name ADASTRO and wants to find out
who we are, what we do, and how to get in touch with us...
the site should allow them to easily find the basics.
The site is intended to support new business development,
in the sense that when we are talking to someone that is a
potential client, we want them to be able to go to our web
site and have it reinforce an impression that we are a
legitimate and highly credible organization to provide
relevant services.
The site is NOT really intended to function as a tool for
acquiring new clients that we have never made contact
through other channels. The services we provide are highly
targeted to CEOs and we don't likely foresee a CEO shopping
for the kind of services we provide on random web pages. We
aren't even going to try to make a sale on the web. But if
they find out about us through other channels, then we do
want the site to reinforce and strengthen a positive
impression of the organization.
The site is NOT intended to support the recruiting of new
employees. We DON'T want people sending us resumes. We
don't anticipate hiring people we don't already know through
other channels.
We DO very much want people that visit the web site to
become aware of the value that our newsletter (the Apogee)
would provide them and then sign up to receive the
newsletter. We use the newsletter as a relationship building
tool. In the past, the relationships created through the
newsletter have resulted in contracts up to the seven figure
range. By providing free and useful information, the
newsletter allows us to stay in the mindshare of a large
number of friends of the organization and potential clients
at a very reasonable cost, so it is important for us to try
to make it as easy and compelling as possible for web site
visitors to sign up for the newsletter.
That should just about cover the basics...
the site is at http://www.adastro.com .
Thanks!
