For those who don't know link building is an important part of being on
the web. A good deal of the search engines include in their algorithms a
rating system that rates the inbound links to a web site and provides
that site with a higher relevancy due to those inbound links. So having
"quality" inbound links makes a site more relevant. It's also just as
important that those inbound links be relative to where they point to,
so having a link page with a million links on it doesn't exactly
substantiate good links. There has even been some discussion that some
search engines may start removing some of these pages from their index.
Proper link building is in the "anchor text" (this is the actual text
used that links or is hyperlinked to a web page or web site). So for
example I am in the web design, search engine optimization, and web
hosting business. So if I have a web page that is devoted to web hosting
and I'm linking to it from another page or another site it would be more
advantageous to use anchor text with the words "web hosting" that point
to that page than say " put your business online " . There's more to it
than that but that's a brief introduction.
So the reason for this thread is to see what the list members out
there have found successful for building up the number of inbound
links to their web sites.
