I agree with Mr. Carlson that you should setup a
redirect. You should however let your visitors know
they are being redirected. Place your current logo or
small version on your 404 page so the visitors knows
he is still going in the direction he/she intended.
Along with your logo should be an explanation as to
why the visitor got here and where they are going.

For example:
"Our community ****.com has moved to ***new-site.com
to serve you better , We are directing you there now.
Please update your links to ***new-site.com ".

This can be done easily as Mr.Carlson stated, with a
404 page and by setting a 4 or 5 second refresh from
the 404 to your new home site.
