Re: Site Submission

Bill,

"I have registered with Yahoo ($300) but still cannot find my site when
I search on Yahoo."

How long ago did that registration take place? Yahoo promises
"Guaranteed and expedited consideration of your site
within 7 business days." If the timespan has been longer than seven
business days then there is definately a problem. If they declined your
listing for any reason, they should still notify you and leave an open
window for appeal.

Yahoo Directory listings are important, but what is most important are
organic search engine listings. Paying to submit your site to Yahoo is
not going to promise indexing by Google or other search engines. Search
Engine Optimization of your web site, finding other relevant sites to
link to SnapFashun, and hand submittals will be the open door into
Google, Yahoo Search, Ask Jeeves, MSN Search and other very important
search engines.

Although search engine optimization does take time to improve indexing,
search engine marketing (paid search) is instantaneous. In search engine
marketing, your listings will appear on Overture (Yahoo, MSN,
AltaVista...etc), Google AdWords (Google, AOL, Ask Jeeves) and other
search engines. In this scenario, you bid for a position against
competitors and pay on a cost-per-click basis. Bidding starts from $.05
to $.10 per click, but some listings can cost as much as $10-$20 per
click (dependant upon your market).

Currently on Overture top bidding for "fashion software" is at $0.41 per
click. With a sound product, pricing, and ease of purchasing, such paid
search marketing may easily not only pay for itself, but meet your
customer aquisition cost metrics.

Sincerely,
Loren Baker
