Advertising on a retail web site has always been a bit of a sticky
proposition. Ideally, you want your viewers to pay attention to the products
(and buy) on your site, not go off to someone else's. The money made with
advertising usually doesn't offset the potential loss of sales on a niche
market ecommerce site.

A better strategy is affiliate programs. These programs pay for actual sales
and you can choose affiliates that are closer aligned (without conflict of
interest) to your target market.
