Re: Latest books suggestions
Here are some business books that crossed my
desk this year and that I felt had a lot of value:
CEO Tools: The Nuts-n-Bolts of Business for Every
Manager's Success by Kraig Kramers
The Bootstrapper's Bible by Seth Godin (you can find
this one online in pdf for free with a bit of searching)
The Obvious Expert--In 90 Days or Less Without Spending
A Fortune on Advertising by Elsom Eldridge Jr. and
Mark L. Eldridge (disclaimer... I am one of the 150
experts quoted in the book).
Perfect Enough: Carly Fiorina and the Reinvention of
Hewlett-Packard by George Anders... fascinating look
at a fascinating woman running one of the largest
brands in the world.
My Life in Advertising & Scientific Advertising by
Claude C. Hopkins... a client gave me a copy of this
last year. The two books (sold together now) were
originally published in 1923 and 1927, and are still
in some respects timely, especially for those
involved in direct response advertising.
And if you would like to relax with a work of fiction,
far and away the best book I read last year was:
The Time Traveler's Wife
by Audrey Niffenegger
This is Niffenegger's debut novel, and it set a record
for the royalty paid to an author for a debut novel.
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have purchased the
movie rights.
