I hate to disagree with some of the folks here, but SEO is not easy.
Yes, you can do it yourself, but why do so when there are folks out
there who specialize in it?

Also, IMHO (after doing nothing but SEO for over 5 years), Google
PageRank is irrelevent. What is more important is where your site
appears in the search engines.
