I also hold a bunch of URL's in cold storage, but the ones I'm
holding are not time specific the way Cliff's is/was. For example,
I've been holding weightbusters.com and buyatcost.com for a while. I
may build them out, I may use them for clients or I may sell them.
Thing is, they'll be as good tomorrow as they are today, which makes
them worth keeping
You're right about GoDaddy, which makes holding these URL's very affordable.
