In response to Ms. Hoffman's inquiry regarding PPC pricing, pay per click
rates range from pennies per click to dollars per click. I have some clients
who spend a few hundred dollars per month on Overture and Google, whereas I
have other clients who spend $30K+ per month. It all depends on your
industry, the amount of competition you have and what you're willing to pay
to be in on of the top two listings.
I had an attorney approach me one time who was willing to pay $20 per click.
I declined the job because A.)I didn't feel good about anybody paying that
kind of money for a click and B.)There was no way in Hades this guy would
have a positive ROI on this program. If the campaigns aren't profitable, it
just makes online marketers like us look bad. The industry doesn't need any
more black eyes.
Typically, a larger retail client with dozens or hundreds of products can
expect to pay $5-10K or more per month for a decent keyword campaign. Small
companies with a few products can get by on a few hundred dollars.
In addition to the pay-per-click cost is the management fee for maintaining
these listings and bids on Overture. Each PPC client generally takes me
10-20 hours per month, depending on the size of the client and the number of
listings.
I hope that answers your questions.
Good luck.
