The MSN paid search links will be tested only in Singapore and France,
and there is no word of a worldwide rollout after that.

MSN will always play a third fiddle to Google and Yahoo, because it
missed the boat early on. If MSN had jumped online as a full network
in the early days of the Web, then it would be a much stronger player
than it is today. (Something analogous to Disney's screwup with
InfoSeek.)

As for Google's AdLinks, I see them as another form of AdSense, but
much less informative. At least with AdSense, I can get an idea of
what the ad is about. With AdLinks, there is only a title that you
then have to click on.

Perhaps Google is trying to overcome text-link ads that are now cropping up.
