Same message or different message?

I am currently testing an audience and have hit an issue. We have an article
and an advertisement running in a magazine. These two have different
messages and are routed to different URLs (our URL plus an extension) for
tracking purposes. Each has a different landing page. The third component to
this test is a banner ad on the magazine site.

Do I go with a new message for the banner ad?
Do I go with the same message as one of the previous placements (article or
ad)?

I can argue from both sides and come to (seemingly) sound conclusions.

And another question...
Do you believe that message repetition has more power than repetitive
exposure or vice versa?

I'm curious to see what you have to say as I have worked myself into an
interesting corner here.

(The rest of the story is we have another print ad and another banner ad
planned with the same publication...where we would continue the most
successful idea.)

Thank you!
