AD:TECH Redux -- many thanks WEBTRENDS!
It was wild times at AD:TECH this week, with an estimated 6500 or so
attending the exhibits, and 850 or so attending the conference
sessions. Highlights of the event were presentations by Mary Meeker
(Managing Director of Morgan Stanley), Guy Kawasaki (Garage
Technology Ventures and formerly Apple); Jeffrey Cole (Director of
the Annenberg School Center for the Digital Future); and Roger
Blackwell. Blackwell gave a presentation based on his book "Brands
that Rock" that was really outstanding, and I will likely write up an
in-depth article on it for this list when I have a chance.
I had a chance to meet face-to-face a number of people I had known
through this list only by email, as well as see many old friends I
had not seen in years. I'm looking forward to the Chicago AD:TECH
event in July, where I'll be giving a presentation that will provide
a broad overview of companies in Online Advertising space and an
overview of the legal rules that impact doing business within the
industry.
Lots of companies were giving away free stuff in their booths, but
far and away the best take away from the event came from the folks at
WebTrends. They gave me a copy of Bryan and Jeffrey Eisenberg's new
book "Call to Action: Secret Formulas to Improve Online Results." I
skimmed it on the plane ride home, and will be spending time giving
it a closer read... it appears to be full of a ton of great case
studies and ideas. You can find the book on Amazon at:
