New MSN search

Hi

I am a Google fan. Not just because of the simplicity of the data
arrangement architecture that they have, but also because these guys
seem to have some of the best business ideas .

However, I came across an effort by MSN to come up with something unique.

Unlike ranking on most search engines, where users have to rely on the
indexing technique of the search engine, MSN seems to have come across a
solution which to my mind can change a lot in the search space.

MSN uses a technique called "Search builder", whereby it gives the
surfer the power to get search results in the order that the searcher
wants to- rather than rely on the display format of the search engine.

Therefore you can place your query in the search box, and proceed to
choose whether you'd want your search results to be displayed. Some of
these unique features (other features can be found on other search
engines too) are:

You can put a filter of "Backward link popularity of the site "

Ranking results display can also change by using these tools to your
advantage:

Site updated recently or static : This feature is there as advanced
search results across most, but MSN offers a unique dragging tool, where
you can control to what degree do you want this feature to effect the
search results.

Very popular or least popular site - with the same tool

Approximate match or exact match with the keyword mentioned: the same tool

I think this might have been noticed by a lot of people, but somehow did
not get a mention in any discussion forum. I also think it can
definitely be improved to a great extent, but just the fact that
companies are willing to experiment and bring across some innovations-
howsoever minor they might be- is an exciting feeling.

Watch out, Google.

Warm Regards
