Piggyback email ads

I'm wondering if anyone does pay-per-click ads in emails.

I've got a service that is delivered by email on demand (phone
to email, sort of a person-to-person voicemail). See
www.actasif.com/callme for an example.

The result is that the ultimate user of the service is going
to receive an email when someone calls an access number that
they have created a link for.

I plan to have themed signup pages - the example is a free
page for soldiers overseas, but I also see notes to myself,
idea catcher, writers, even dictation.

I'd like to make this advertising supported. I expect I can
get the person signing up to give me some sort of preference
information and demographics, although I am trying to be as
non-intrusive as possible.

At some point I may also have a web interface for most recent
voicemails, etc, but at this point it is entirely email
driven, including signup.

I like the Google adsense idea, but of course they don't do
anything with emails.

I can do html emails, and can do mhts also (with embedded
images that you don't have to unblock).

I can also do talking emails, of course, since it already has
a voice file attached. ("and now a word from our sponsor.)
Although I would expect self-playing recordings are not likely
to go over well.
