Re: Looking for feedback on good email response rate
Open rates and click-thru rates depend on several
factors. If I have understood correctly, you purchased
an email newsletter. This can be a problem.
How did they get their email subscribers? Using double
opt-in method (subscribers have to confirm their
request) or they've added them without their
permission? What is your email service provider? Does
your email service provider have good cooperation with
major ISP so that they are not blacklisted and that
their emails are delivered? Also, what is your
newsletter about? Newsletters with topics like
Internet marketing will usually have lower open rates
and click-thru rates compared to specialized email
newsletters for .NET programming, for example, because
there are many Internet marketing newsletters.
Usually, newsletters with more specific niche and
which use double opt-in practice will have subscribers
that show more response to email campaigns. Different
email newsletters have different statistics.
Anyway, your email response isn't promising at all.
Your open rate is 9% which is very, very low. You
should have at least 20%, and that is also not much.
When you have that low open rates you can't expect to
have good click-thru rates. 1.3% CTR definitely can't
be considered as good response in email campaign.
I suggest you to build your email newsletter in-house,
use double opt-in practice for getting subscribers,
use your From and Subject fields wisely, make sure
that your email service provider has good
deliverability ratio, read several good articles about
improving your open rates, click-thru rates,
deliverability and you will definitely have much
better email response rate.
