Press release timing

Hi,

We're going to launch a new website feature on December 5. The feature is
extremely unique and custom for our niche audience.

Our question is how to release this fact to the press. Can we issue a press
release announcing the launch date and what the feature will be? If so, how
soon before the launch date should we send it? Or is it more proper to
issue the release after the start date stating that the feature is there?

By the way, we will use PR Newswire. Is there somebody better? Our market
is the entire 'online USA'.
