Have you approached advertisers yourself? Don't shoot me for
stereotyping, but Undergear? People with a web presence that
are already spending money.

You might ask your own visitors where they like to go on the
web, and to make suggestions to you. Where do they buy stuff
more than once, particularly where they will show up as a
strong demographic to that site.

You might offer the larger advertisers trial advertising at no
cost for a week or two, to show your value. Not people who
approach you, but people you approach.

This might be a dumb idea, but also Amazon affiliate status,
so that books you mention have direct links into Amazon and
you get paid something.

Also anything else you can do on an affiliate status. Getting
paid by the closed sale takes the risk out of things for
everyone.
