Hello, all.

This company recently received a completed website. It's pleasing to the eye
(we hope), but in terms of ideal functionality, it was incomplete. For
example, validation of email addresses was minimal in most places and
non-existent in the rest. Judging by other websites, that is a mystifyingly
common problem.

Much trouble can be caused by not rejecting invalid email addresses. Potential
clients who mistype might be unreachable by auto-mailers, visitors might engage
in hard-to-trace harassment of you or third parties. Crashing the server or
getting you labelled a junk mailer - that's terrible marketing.

Logging of IP addresses and errors is something desirable that you'll need to do
internally or via a developer, but this company has decided to share in-house
validation code that is better than other free code online. It's yours to use
and adapt, with a few conditions.
