I think it's far more likely that separate messages sent on behalf of
a sponsor will be ignored.

If however, the message originates from a trusted source, like the
editor or moderator, and contains a personal word of endorsement,
that makes the message far more likely to be read.

On the same note, if when a new sponsor comes on board to a
newsletter, the editor or moderator sends a special note to readers
thanking the sponsor for their support and encouraging readers to
check out their product or service, it makes the ads included in the
newsletter that much more effective.
