Advertising's nature

Hi I am a postgraduate student at Addis Ababa
University (in Ethiopia) in the graduate School of
Journalism and Comunication. I am interested in doing
my master's thesis on exploring the nature of
advertising in media in Ethiopia.

I am looking for any suggestions on how to go about it
or what areas about the nature of advertising I should
focus on.
