I'm not sure that's true.

By agreeing to appear at the conference, you agree to be part of the
conference's marketing efforts.

If you agree that your name can appear in conference brochures, then why
can't it be a keyword for search?

If Ad*Tech had put Cliff's name on a huge 50 ft high banner on the side of
the Sear's tower, would that be unauthorized too?

I don't think it's so cut-and-dry that this is an unauthorized endorsement.
