Sudden drop in Google Ad Revenues?

Greetings...

Has anyone else experienced a sudden drop in Google ad revenue?

For two years I've been running between $1,000 and $1,500
nice and smooth -- in April it dropped to $600.

No explanation -- traffic is up, number of pages is up,
number of unique visitors is up, length of time is up,
Google is down.

Google support evades the question, referring me to the
"how to do better" FAQ.

Are there better ways to monetize a site that are as
easy and low maintenance as Google?
