>>I was wondering if anyone knows any information about the
popularity of "frames" style web pages vs. non frames. I personally
do not like them, but I wondered if there are any surveys done on
the subject?<<

Frames aren't for every web site. As a site developer, I only use frames
when the site is more than 10 pages to make it easier to navigate. It's
also a good opportunity for advertising where you can have a ad that is
constantly visible. I set up that concept for one of my clients, The North
Dade Chamber of Commerce: http:/www.ndadecc.com/ndadecc. Their site is over
30 pages.

Most folks still have the older versions of Netscape (2.0), that can't see
frames. Other online services, like Netcom, that have their own browsers
can't view frames either. Neither can the MS Explorer that comes with Win95
and AOL's 2.0. Anyone that creates a page with frames has to have a
alternate no frames version for these folks. All they need to do is
download the latest version of their browser.
