Refining Definitions

Maxine,
This is a good point. But can these diferentiations be accurately
tracked?I heard rumors of very detailed stats available to the server
owners but not much released to the general public. So I believe you can see
which sections of a page have been viewed. This would be valuable
information.

Perhaps CONTACT HIT could be one that is basically just "contact "with the page

and a BANNER HIT could be a hit that has the banner "clicked" on the page
or some other section of interest of the page that has been contacted.

This would refine the statistics if this information could be obtained. Then
some sort of % formula could be developed to adress the point you made.

So if you could see if any other portion of the page has been viewed other
than the entry screen without scrolling it's a CONTACT HIT.

And if the screen is scrolled or the person clicks on something else on
that page it would be a BANNER HIT .

Just a thought..........
