NONE: Personal paradigm

Personal paradigm

Hi,

This is sort of a follow-up to Hank Heath's post, and also a sort of
fumbling toward a paradigm for me personally.
One of the issues discussed has been, "Is the net mass-media?", and
it seems to me that people belive that if it ISN'T mass media. However, many
products are niche products, arising out of niche markets. Consider
McIlhenny's Tabasco sauce as an example. Probably only sells to one person
in 50 on a regular basis.

I believe that quality advertising is a service. We have nothing to
apologize for. I further believe that advertising succeeds through
repitition. On television, this translates into commercials being re-run ad
nauseam. In newspapers, it means taking out banners three times a wekk. But
on the web, it means repeat visitors.
So, I think the best way for an organization to promote products or
services is by regularly updating their site with quality content. Most
people are curious, and welcome the opportunity to learn new things. A
commercial web page is a potential gold mine in that the window of interest
is exactly what feeds the repition. Compared to other media, this is sweet!

BTW, for those who question eficacy of web ads, I found both my
current ISP and the print shop that I use off the net. Both were new
businesses opened after the yellow pages had been printed.
