NBA Sues America Online and Stats Inc. for publishing real-time game scores
and statistics without permission. It seems that last month the NBA
previously won a somewhat similar case against motorola for publishing
scores over their pagers. Hard to believe it will hold up on appeal, but
who knows...

Having worked for the Dolphins during the two Super Bowl winning seasons
and, as a result, having a working knowledge of NFL Properties, Inc. and
some of the trademarking back then...my guess is they will win the suits.
NFL, NBA, et al copyright their product [you've seen/heard the disclaimers
on the broadcasts/telecasts] and they sell those rights for billions to
radio and TV. They'll make an argument about delays, just like race tracks
have successfully had for years.
