Newsletters and the Daily Brief

My name is J. Kirby Robinson, and I am president of Intelligent Network=
Concepts, Inc., a company whose only endeavor is the publication of a daily=
e-mail newsletter, the Daily Brief. I noticed the recent thread on=
newsletters, and thought I would contribute some of my observations about=
the topic.
The Daily Brief is a 4-6 page e-mail summary of national (U.S.) and=
international news which occurs in the 24 hours prior to distribution.=
That's it: news. We realize that there are hundreds of places on the web to=
get such information, but the web, for all its beauty, is not convenient.=
(Not to mention the millions of e-mail users who have no access to the=
web.) That's where the e-mail comes in. Simplicity of use is one of the=
main reasons our subscribers say they enjoy the Brief so much. No=
searching, no linking; this news comes to you.
It has been almost three months since we announced the availability of the=
Brief on the NEW-LIST list and, as of Friday's mailing, we had 11,373=
subscribers. (Yep, we send out over 55,000 pieces of mail per week.)=
Subscriptions to the Brief are free, and we continue to get 50-75 new=
people sign up every day.
Only recently (last week) did we begin the second phase of our project: that=
of looking for sponsors for the Brief. We have had a few takers, but=
honestly, I must admit that we are somewhat ill-informed as to where to=
announce the availability of the opportunity to sponsor the Brief. One of=
the key things mentioned here on the list earlier on this topic was the=
establishment of a central information source for people who wish to=
sponsor newsletters. This is a great idea, and thanks go out to Cliff=
Kurtzman for deciding to implement it. If anyone knows of other efficient=
ways to let others know about sponsorship opportunities, please let me know=
