Junk email or quality information?

Hello List,

After having been placed on several email lists now myself (due to online
purchasing--not knowing that they would also sell my email address), I
have personally found it quite offensive to get sometimes up to 20 "Junk"
emails a day, which clog up my email download time.

I was wondering if anyone had considered setting up an industry-wide
signature that could be a filter signal to email, any company subscribing
to the ethical standards (to be determined) would get rights to the sig,
and it would be publicized as a professional information service--and
remain that way.
