NONE: Will sponsors donate products?

Will sponsors donate products?

My colleagues, who run the other Free Stuff sites have come up with a plan
to raise all our hit counts.

(Background: The Free Stuff sites are places where you can find lists of
all the 800 numbers and links to web pages of every company offering any
type of free sample.)

Their idea is to get sponsors to donate prizes which we will give away. In
order to enter, the person will have to enter on all 6 sites that are
involved. While I will participate in this venture, I was wondering what
the advertising group's opinion is of this. Will sponsors just give up
their product in exchange for it being a prize? All the prizes on game
shows are donated, right.

Here is the first draft of the letter that is being used to solicit
sponsors.

___
Internet Contests Unlimited is currently seeking sponsors to donate
merchandise for their weekly giveaway. The sponsors we're looking for
would be willing to simply donate promotional material in exchange for
advertising. NO MONEY. We're not in this for profit, we just want to
promote our own sites as well as provide a valuable service to those
companies that ARE looking to profit from their web site.

We believe that this would be a mutually beneficial arrangement. We are
seeking t-shirts, mugs, hats, software, magazines, and many other items.
The sponsors will have their name listed as the provider of the
merchandise with a link back to their site. Also if you wish to send the
prizes yourself we can link to your site to let the entrant choose which
item they would like to receive. Otherwise you will also be listed on the
congratulatory letter that will accompany the winners prize. Prizes will
be given away in a drawing of all entrants.

We currently have approximately 1000 people a day visiting each web site,
and many of our member sites have been featured in magazines such as PC
World, BoardWatch, Windows Magazine, Computer Life, and Online Access. For
more information on our group please visit http://www.icv.net.

We believe this will give both of us advertising and get your merchandise
out into the marketplace. I have seen your products and think they are
terrific and think people would be interested in winning them.

Thank you for your time,
