You may be interested in our new, nontechnical revision of our previous
working paper reanalyzing the CommerceNet/Nielsen Internet estimates.

Hoffman, Novak and Kalsbeek (1996), "Internet and Web Use in the United
States: Baselines for Commercial Development," July 10.

The revision provides a new segmentation based upon Internet and Web use and
an analysis of important demographic characteristics, computer usage
behavior, and general computer and Web-specific activities for these
segments.

There is also an appendix (229k) containing detailed tables in which we
analyze an additional 38 marketing variables by each segment for men and
women separately.

We provide these easily accessible analyses in the interests of furthering
industry understanding of consumer behavior on the emerging commercial medium
of the World Wide Web and invite your comments, questions, and criticisms.
