NONE: Impressions and Ad Rates
Impressions and Ad Rates

I apologize to all if this is rehashing a topic (I am new to this list),
but I need some basic (and not so basic) information regarding offering
advertising on the WWW. To reduce clutter to the list, feel free to reply
to me directly at jayp_at_i-america.net
I am in charge of setting up an advertising program on a heretofore
non-profit Web site, and need information on Web advertising 'standards.'
To be more specific, I need info on the following topics:
Impressions. Just what the heck is an 'impression.' If I have an ad
graphic that my stats say was uploaded 1000 times on a specific day, would
that qualify as 1000 impressions, and/or would that be sufficient
information if I was selling that ad at whatever per impression? I don't
know that I want -- or am able -- to track 'visits,' and would prefer to
sell ads either on a per download/'impression' basis or at a flat rate per
period. I would like to keep it as simple as possible while satisfying my
advertisers. I guess another way to ask this is what kind of information
do most advertisers require? If I sell an ad at a CPM (I've figured out
what THAT means, I think) of $30, what kind of tracking do I need to
provide? Any and all input on this topic is appreciated.
Ad rates. I know that this question is wide open, and determined by many
different factors, but some general suggestions on how to set ad rates,
especially for the first ads, would be welcome.
... and anything else I should be aware of.
Thanks in advance,
Jay Plyler
