Steven Heath runs another advertising mailing list that complements this
discussion list. Whereas our list is called "Online Advertising", Steven's
list is called "Internet Advertising." Steven's list/newsletter advises
its subscribers on Internet or "new media" advertising activities. Our
list provides a good forum for follow up discussion on the topics mentioned
in Steven's newsletter.

With Steven's permission and with apologies to those of you that already
subscribe to Steven's list, below I am forwarding to our list a copy of the
entire Internet Advertising Digest #006 which he sent out Monday, June 17,
1996. You will need to subscribe directly to Steven's list to receive his
future mailings. To subscribe to his list, send an email to
listserver_at_nstn.ca with the body of the message:

[Mod Note: And a full Press Release for a change. I did not want to change

OpenText Preferred Listing

If you're like us, you know that getting your site to pop up first on
a search results page is the Holy Grail of Web promotion! And, if
you're like us, you know how frustrating it is when a competitor pops
up there instead... They are getting _your_ visitors.

What if you could guarantee top placement on the search results
page? That'd be pretty valuable. Well now it's available and its
inexpensive to boot! Recently, the Open Text full-text search engine
introduced Preferred Listings (tm), which lets you buy the top spot
to gain exposure and drive more traffic to your site. Preferred
Listings works just like the Yellow Pages. You simply choose a search
term -- for example, "travel" or "hosting" -- and Open Text
guarantees your Web site a priority listing whenever a user searches
for that phrase or keyword.

Unlike expensive banner ads that sell for $10,000 a month or more,
Preferred Listings cost as little as $2,000 for a six-month priority
position. You can get a 15 percent discount if you list your URL with
three or more search terms.

If you sign up for this now, you'll get all the rest of June for FREE.

We're trying it out ourselves, because personally I think it is one of the
most powerful advertising buys you're likely to see.

If you are interested in this, please visit our site for details and
to sign up. It's easy, inexpensive, and if you hurry, the rest of
the month is FREE.
