Hi Everyone,

This is my first time posting on this list, so let me make a quick
introduction. My name is Tony Hsieh and I'm a co-founder of the Internet
Link Exchange. After seeing the recent postings about buying banner ad
space, I thought readers to this list might be interested in learning
about our service.

The Internet Link Exchange is a public service that allows anyone with a
web site to advertise their site on banner ads on thousands of other
participating web sites -- for free.

Our service can also be useful for businesses that are interested in
purchasing paid banner advertising elsewhere, in that it can give you an
idea as to what kind of click-thru ratios to expect for your banners.

In order to participate in the Link Exchange, members agree to insert some
HTML code into their web pages. This will cause banners of other members
to automatically appear on their site. Other members will be doing the
same thing, and the end result is that members will all be displaying ads
for each other, and everyone who participates wins! The number of times a
site is advertised is directly proportional to the number of times that
site has advertised for other sites.

There is a ratings system available as well, so that sites do not have to
display banners for potentially offensive sites (for example, a
business-oriented site would probably not want to display banners for a
bikini-of-the-month site). The Internet Link Exchange also offers
real-time statistics for the number of visits, number of exposures, and
number of click-thrus that a web site has received.

The Internet Link Exchange has been in operation for about 3 months now
and currently displays over 350,000 ads a day on over 20,000 different web
pages.
