the list earlier today. In that post, I inadvertently omitted Bruce's

Bruce,
I'm thinking this is a joke right?Especially in your assertion that you
will now use this paradigm in your print advertising too.The concept of
rates based on activity is workable it just needs some new equasion or
rules to meke it work.It certainly would be fair.......The problem with
advertising in general is that too many people make too much money on
hope.Hope you say?Yes hope. The hope of the advertiser that the ad will
generate business. It's like selling the Brooklyn bridge. We're at the
beginning of a new revolution in information dissemination and gathering
and using the old rules just doesn't cut it.Of course it will take some
sort of breakthrough to wake up the advertising community to this because
based on what I read on this list what has been done so far is take
existing concepts and ways of thinking about advertising and
rehashed them with new terminology. To me it's just the same ole same ole
with a new name.
I notice hardly any of you comment on my posts.I get a few private ones
wondering what I'm about and generally agreeing with me but I have yet to
see any of you take issue or debate anything I say on this list.Heritic you
say?Knows not of what he speaks?Just think of the visionaries from the
past. Were any of them embraced from the get go?I'm not on some sort of ego
trip here. All I'm trying to do is stimulate conversation with a different
approach because as I can see by the posts on this list something needs to
be done to stimulate new thought.I do not discount what has been discussed
here .It seems that there are some highly intelligent people here. But I do
not see origional thought but rarely and the post that inspired your post
here (below) was an origional one.Who's to know what is right? This is a
forum for free thought and learning. When an upstart like myself puts out
inflamitory or challenging thought(however you may interpert it) and it
doesn't even get responded to then to me that indicates closed minds.I'm
not a fool.I'm not an ad man per se but I am creative and intuitive.I see
some closed minds here afraid to think in new ways or even debate new
thought. It might seem like new thought(the terms and concepts tossed around
this list)but it's the same old thing rehashed.
Yes I'm shamelessly trying to instigate something here but it is meant to
be constructive not destructive.Communication with an open mind is the key.
Now I'm going to give you all a glimpse of the future.......Imagine if
you could get your ad on someones desktop in an interactive form with
browser capabilities but not need netscape type browsers up and
runnung......Imagine this would be something that everyone would want and
could be custom tailored to fit any client or advertiser yet be there on
the desktop without other programs running......Imagine having the edge of
supercedeing the browser all together...
Remember the pet rock?Anyone thought of the pet rock for the computer yet?
Imagine that!
