I believe that you can get the e-mail addresses in some cases, and possibly
other info as well. But i don't know the details as to how.
However, even if you can get personal data, you should ask for it
explicitly, since people who aren't willing to give you this info on a form
are probably not going to be happy about you just taking it.
Look at it this way: If I call someone and ask for info to be mailed to me,
or order something via direct mail, or fill out a form in a store, I
expect to be put on their customer list. But if I just walk into a store
and look around, I don't expect to be added to a list. Well, you can't add
me in the physical world without asking. But just because you can in the
virtual world, doesn't mean you should.
And what would you do with this info? If you use the e-mail addresses to
send mail, you're sending unsolicited mail (let them sign up if they want
to receive mail from you.) Any most demographic/psycographic info that
would be useful to advertisers would need to be collected via a form,
anyway.
