Hello,
first of all I want to say that this mailing list has been one of the
most helpful advertising list out there. You have shortened the time i
waste every day. Anything I can help people with let me know.
Second, I've been recieving this list for a couple weeks now because
recently I have been put in charge of online advertising for all Bryson
Web productions inc. sites. The queston I want to ask is about one site
we do as a community service for Washington DC http://diningweb.com
Now reciently it has been decided that Dining web should support itself
using banner ads. Now heres where it gets tricky. We get 80,000 hits
per month, 95% of our readership is from Washington DC or the Surronding
area.(from poll we took in July) Now I thought $300 a week for lower
directories and $700 a week for the home page are good rates from what
I've seen from around the web. How do you go about finding the
advertisers on the net for a geographiclly targeted site? What do you
think the CPM should be. Do you think I can stick to a flat rate
pricing system if I provide accurate hit data to the advertisers?
Should I just pretend were a small print magazine with 80,000 local
readers per month to set the rates?
I've been reseaching this for about a week now but I'm a techie with a
new job not an advertising exec.
Thank You
