Hello all!
I am new to the list and in the process of developing a site for
which I will be advertising my local (Boston area) training
services, and possibly also seeking sponsors. Being new to the
online marketing arena (and marketing in general), I am trying to
figure out how best to design a site to attract advertisers...it
seems to me that understanding effective marketing while one is
developing one's design is a lot more effective than designing the
site, then figuring out how to market it.
And while still in the initial learning process, I feel quite
ignorant about how to attract LOCAL customers and businesses.
What I'm planning to do is to have a lot of links on my site
related to great Boston area sites, so that I'm likely to attract
LOCAL people, who may then be interested in my training skills.
But what I'd like to know is this:
Should I just add the links and then let the sites to which I
am linked know about them -without any kind of payment, but
instead perhaps an exchange of links?
Should I add a brief description/review to each link, and then
ask the site in question if they're willing to pay a
minimal amount for a favorable review?
Should I in some other way combine the links with requests for
advertising from the parties in question?
What is the best way to go about this, so that I am able to
generate income not only from my services but also from all the
companies/sites that I'm including in the Great Boston links
section of my site? (and so that people who don't come to my
site don't immediately take off to tour Boston...)
Any responses and suggestions appreciated...by private email
if they're not likely to be relevant to the list as a whole.
TIA!
Tracy Marks
