A very nice package is EBase/Mailer from Braintree software at
http://www.braintree.com or sales_at_braintree.com. It allows mailing from a
categorized database. They offer the package as shareware with a full blown
version costing only $29.95. It allows a virtually unlimited number of
email addresses to sit in a database and the mailing proceeds unattended
from that.

You can add in category keys so that mailings can be targeted to parts of
the list. It sends out each message individually addressed, so there are no
confidentiality issues.

They also have some other interesting software packages in development that
may be of interest.

I haven't used it yet for a big mailing, but am about to do so today.
