Being subscribed to many e-mail discussion groups I was thinking of selling
my sig. file to sites that were looking for advertising. Then each of my
following posts to these various discussion groups would carry in my sig.
file the url and a bit of advertising for that company. Does anyone know if
this is being done already and if so could you point me to any resources.

The company could then also select a set of lists to which I am subscribed
to see which are the most applicable for their products. Impressions or hits
would be:

Number of subscribers to a discussion group x number of postings

NUSANCE VALUE - this form of advertising would obviously only work if each
of my postings to the various discussion groups were interesting and valid
and annoying all 2000 members of a list every day just to get exposure for
my sig. file would not benefit my continued subscription to that list or my
customer.

Any thoughts (or perhaps even flames at the nerve of such a suggestion?)
