For those interested in various "pooled" web site banner
advertising programs -- if you have not checked out my
web page recently -- take a look at my page at
< http://www.ca-probate.com/comm_net.htm >
Among other changes and additions to the page over the past
few weeks, my page now reflects the fact that IBN (Internet
Banner Network or "Banner-Net") has defaulted on their
payments to web sites, apparently based on retroactive
rule changes. (Synopsis: IBN promised to pay one-half cent
for every ad impression, without restriction. IBN sold
no ads, and thus ran the identical in-house ad [for its
"Free Newsletter" site] for two months while total ad
impressions rose into the millions. Not surprisingly,
the click-through rate plummetted. IBN's reaction was
to decide to NOT pay any of the royalties promised to
sites that generated a click-through ratio under 1%,
and to pay only half of the agreed royalties to sites
with click-through ratios just above 1%.)
As far as I know, there are NO companies that will
reliably pay for "all available" ad impressions. I have
received a lot of inquiries this week from people looking
for a viable "pooled web site" ad company and I have
had no useful suggestions for sites with fewer than
100,000 impressions per month (nor for larger sites
that have questionable content or poor demographics).
