The admin also can check it using AltaVista or DejaNews. A more
sofisticated idea for an IPP would be to find appropriate current
*discussions* (not just a group), locate the key participants and
sponsor their signatures, encouraging them to discuss the same subject
over and over ;)
Well, isn't it what the advertisers want: the ad placed in the proper
content.

To develop the same idea, the advertisers could buy keywords in
private e-mails sent via forwarding services and free e-mails. I don't
know, whether searching for keywords by a robot is a privacy
violation.

Perhaps, a more practical approach would be to make several ads
available for a writer (once again, they should be personalized and
changed, otherwise becoming a form of spam).

I bet some Usenet people could get a heart attack after receiving such
proposals.

The client cannot be guaranteed anything because:

i. your posts could be boring
ii. a reader skips the articles that she is not interested to read
iii. some readers might skip the lists at all (as I do, when I am too lazy
to unsubscribe)

Besides unless you provide 1,000,000 impressions/month none wants to
pay you for impressions. The best future for this form is to be paid
comissions from sales (unless you are Cindy Crawford and get paid for
mentioning that you drink Coke).

In the late case the effectiveness is your own concern only.
