Dear Ken,

You made me delurk as this is a topic near and dear to my heart.

Your posting comes at an interesting time. I write an international trade
column for a publication called WWWiz (http://wwwiz.com), which is in both
Internet and print formats. I am compiling research on this very same topic
- is anyone getting business from overseas via the Internet. If anyone
would like to contribute their experiences, please drop me an e-mail at:
extrader_at_wavenet.com and let's chat. I would like to hear from both U.S.
based web sites and overseas-based sites. Thanks.

To further the topic of international activity on web sites, I can provide
some anecdotal material. Our company is a small web design and marketing
company with a twist, we also do international trade consulting. Our web
site (http://www.dmintl.com/dolphin/) doesn't receive huge numbers (a few
thousand page impressions per month), but it is fairly well known and
linked in its niche among international trade web sites (we do an indepth
review (biweekly)of other international trade web sites). Approximately
40% of traffic is generated from overseas. The topic, import/export and
international trade, is of interest to businesses around the world. I also
know that many of my clients (again small companies) receive traffic from
overseas (less than 40%) and have made sales to overseas customers from
their sites. A larger site that we worked on called TradePort
(http://tradeport.org) generates over 120,000 page impressions per month
with about 15% from overseas visitors.

I have seen others on this list (and other lists) mention international
business on the web, so I know it exists and is growing. I'll compile
everything I receive and make it available to everyone here on this list
when it is ready.

Regards
