NONE: Are <ALT= > tags considered banner impressions?

Are <ALT= > tags considered banner impressions?

Bom dia!,

I have not seen any discussion about this, so I thought I would put forth
this question.

We are selling banner advertisement, and we are having an arguments with a
customer that believes that the number of impressions to a banner is the
number of times the GIF file is loaded. We believe that since we use
<H2><IMG SRC="graphic.gif" ALT="example text"></H2>, the number of times the
page is loaded (with the banner at the top of the page), is the actual
number of impressions.

Anybody want to give their $0.02 worth?

One other question, how can we assure our customers that the logfiles are
correct? I seem to recall a company that authenticates page hits, but I
can't find them anywhere. I looked at www.netcount.com, but they are not the
ones that I saw before. Anybody?

Regards,
