I publish a free biweekly email (text-only) newsletter targeted at writers
on the net. In a year, I have picked up 5,000 subscribers, and my
subscriber rate is gradually climbing (approx. 20/day at present). The
newsletter is a companion publication to my writers' resource website.
I am currently researching potential sponsors and what I should charge for
advertising, but am having difficulty finding data for my particular
situation. I can't really use hardcopy rates because the advertising will
be text-only, though a banner ad could be used in the website. My marketing
focus is on the newsletter, however, because I can give potential sponsors
reliable, concrete numbers about a targeted audience who have requested the
newsletter. The newsletter can also be read on the website and on AOL.
Questions:
Any suggestions on what I should charge?
How should I charge? (annual? quarterly? reassessed each time on basis of
number of subscribers?)
Any advice appreciated.
Sincerely,
Debbie Ridpath Ohi
